Rollout of new Help2Health Service Begins - March 08

250 pharmacists will be the first in the country to receive their fully stocked leaflet display stands as part of a UK wide initiative being rolled out by Help2Health from Tuesday, March 11.

Designed to help pharmacies promote healthcare issues to customers, the innovative service follows on the success of the scheme pioneered by Waiting Room Information Services (WIS) in 6,000 GP surgeries throughout the UK.

Help2Health manager Sarah O'Reilly explained they were delighted that the first tranche of pharmacies had received their rotating leaflet display stands with leaflets supplied by the pharmaceutical industry, government and charities.

“We have been bowled over by the level of interest shown by pharmacies so far and look forward to offering this service to even more pharmacies throughout the country,” she said.

Under the new pharmacy contract in 2006, pharmacists were encouraged to promote a healthy lifestyle to their customers.

Help2Health leaflet standBut many found it time consuming and difficult to source the right leaflets to meet the Government criteria.

Superintendent Pharmacist for Westminster Park Pharmacies, Lee Browne, says:

“We have Help2Health stands in four of our pharmacies. The presentation of the stand is excellent and makes for a great focal point in our shops. Many of our customers are benefiting from the vast array of health and signposting information these stands contain.”

Help2Health fulfils three key elements of the pharmacy contract. It is:

  • Free of charge to pharmacists
  • Does not require their input so saving them valuable time
  • Well received

Nearly a quarter of pharmacists in the Help2Health pilot said the service prompted more Medicines Use Reviews and freed up at least one square metre of valuable retail space, previously taken up by leaflets.
