New Charity Consultant Appointed at IDS UK - April 08

Linda Hams Charity Consultant at IDS UK

WITH MANY years of experience working in the third sector, Linda Hams hopes to build a closer link between healthcare marketing experts IDS UK and charitable organisations.

Linda, 43, recently joined IDS as their charities consultant and she can't wait to spread the word about the services on offer from the dynamic Hampshire based company.

She believes many charities have been missing the opportunity to reach the right people with their message and that services such as the GP Leaflet Distribution Network, Help2Health Pharmacy Network, Leaflets2u internet service and Legal WIS legacy service could prove to be a winning combination for fundraising and awareness programmes.

“Many charities have no idea of the opportunity that IDS UK can offer them to get their message in front of the people they want to target.

It's far better for someone to pick up a leaflet voluntarily than for them to receive something through their letterbox – that way people are pulling information towards them rather than having stuff pushed on them”, she said.

With the potential to reach 38 million patients through a distribution network of leaflet stands in 6,000 surgery sites and the national roll out through pharmacies as well (with some 750 already signed up), Linda believes its time charities picked up on the marketing potential offered by IDS.

She has worked for charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Association for Spina Bifida, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and Deaf Blind UK for the past 15 years and in the last eight years held fundraising and marketing director posts.

She explained that there has never been a tougher time for charities. People are willing to give support in the form of donations of money but they are being pulled in many directions and it’s a challenge for charities to retain allegiance.

“Charities are facing an ever more competitive climate with many good causes vying for our attention. The leaflets and the poster sites are a great way of reinforcing a charity message.

I know from experience how important it is to get your charity name out there so that when it comes to choosing to support your cause, people know your name already.

I have experience of working for charities and I have worked in industry as well so I can see things from both sides of the fence,” she said.
